The morning after.

The morning after.

It’s a sobering morning, right? Hangovers of what we did or didn’t do has come full circle in some ways. What we did or didn’t say. What we enabled in the name of politics or policy…came and bit our nation in the ass.

If we disagree with what happened on the capital grounds yesterday, we should be asking ourselves questions. If we denounce the ones who scaled the walls of reason, we realize that WE are the ones left with the cleanup.

What did we actually see? What have we heard for months?

What I saw is what happens when a Malignant Narcissist reigns supreme.  The people, simple byproducts of manipulation and control, because their ruler is skilled at what he does.

Please know.  That is his goal.  Supremacy. There is NO other consideration so important as to EVER infringe upon this primary and very personal goal.

I don’t see black.  I don’t see white.  I don’t lean left.  I don’t lean right.

I just see a sick man, whose disorder has not been controlled, but rather…enabled and supported throughout his lifetime…so much so, that the goals of one mind and the strategies of one soul have pervaded the very consciousness of our country.

To say that “this never should have happened” is an understatement.  To consider that the entire situation was not incited by the man himself…is just denial.

It wouldn’t matter if he was Liberal.  It wouldn’t matter if he was Independent.

The disorder itself, TRUMPS all affiliations.

If you ever doubted the potential downfall of a disordered personality run amuck, then perhaps you have been saddened.  Perhaps you have been stunned.  Perhaps you have been awakened.

But the biggest mistake we can make as a nation is to not take the time to understand the root of the behavior which allowed yesterday to occur- the inherent disease of a man who manipulated the minds of millions and encouraged the acts of a mob.

We’ve seen it over and over again throughout history. He is not the first Narcissist in power, and he will not be the last. It’s a disorder of degrees and subtleties, and it inherently inhabits most leaders in some way.

The importance lies in understanding the disorder itself and identifying the behaviors of those who are pathological in nature.

Why?

Because they CAN be dangerous. They can be…

He was and still is.

I’ve written numerous blogs, but never posted them…because I thought a warning might be futile. Who would read it? Would my thoughts matter? Who would I have angered?

Narcissism isn’t a rudimentary term used by your therapist which has no applicable meaning in this world.  Narcissist isn’t a hyperbolic title used in a media statement.

Look it up.  Read about it.  Understand it.  Notice it in yourself and in others.

The person is not “just an asshole”.  The disorder does not “just go away”.  And the individuals, themselves, almost NEVER have the ability to see the danger within.

So, what happens next?

Welp. It is what it is.  We are where we are.  What has happened, has happened.

Change will never begin with the patient.  He simply doesn’t have the ability.

WE can heal, but we must assume ultimate responsibility in our own treatment and rehabilitation.  It’s like Al-Anon for the country.

WE accept what we cannot change, and we move forward in courage.

WE focus on our own behavior.  On our own words.  On our own actions.

WE communicate with appropriate intent and empathy across ages, races, religions and party lines.

What WE do and say today and tomorrow will determine what wisdom WE pass onto others.

And we remember that no single soul is supreme…because WE are a nation.
